Life Since Graduation

Since people ask me all the time, I decided to write a quick post about what I’ve been up to since May 27th.

It’s been 11 days since I walked across the stage and hugged Ian Mcfeat (awk), but I already feel like high school is in my past. I keep randomly finding myself reflecting on everything I’ve accomplished, learned, or been through these last 4 years and it’s comforting to know that it’s a closed chapter, that there’s nothing more I can do to make it better, or even mess it up. I was a member of TACH for 4 years, ASB for 3. I was a Miss LCF Royal Court member, I jump roped for 8 years. I had Mr. Valassidis for 3 years, Mr. Carroll for 2, Mr. Lively for 3. I will never have to say “geology is the worst grade I’ve gotten in high school so far”, I can now say that without Mr. Power’s generous curve, AP English Literature would’ve been my worst grade (a long, awful story). I got to class on time, never ditched, and went to basketball games. My high school experience happened, it’s over, there’s nothing more I can do to change it. As awful as that can sound, moving on has been a giant blessing.

Regarding what I’ve actually been up to since graduation, I’ve been working a bit. Though I have gotten food poisoning (thank you, Cheesecake Factory) and gone on a highly anticipated date, things have been pretty chill. I designed a few shirts, hosted a graduation party, and had a beach bonfire with Mahli and Ella. I’m really starting to get used to summer, but the post-school year work-related stress is still alive and well. It’s pretty messed up that I’ve been encountering that particular side effect of my superb education, but it’ll pass soon.

Here are some quick points about the last 11 days:

  • Memorial Day weekend will always be awesome in LC.

  • I could not have asked for a better last jump rope party, Foothill Force Jump Rope Team.

  • Everyone should have a graduation party if they want to be surrounded by everyone they love (and maybe one or two people that they don’t, it happens, no worries).

  • Mahli is officially 17 ½!

  • The Bachelorette is going well, I’m betting on Jordan.

  • The “date” went well.

  • Logan, my Monday co-worker, if officially not working at TBB anymore, which is so sad! The girl who replaced him is super sweet and I really like her, but I didn’t even get to say bye to him! What’s up with that!!

  • I have officially used information I learned in high school in real life. I explained jingoism to my grandma. Thanks Carroll!

As much as I say I hate La Cañada, I don’t, and I don’t know what I’m gonna do without this place in a few weeks.
